How it works.
A calibrated tone. A resonant chamber. Water that has nowhere to hide.
The short version
When water sits in your phone's speaker chamber, it dampens the diaphragm and muffles every sound. Our tool plays a low-frequency tone (~165 Hz) that vibrates the diaphragm hard enough to fling the water back out through the grille. It's the same technique the Apple Watch uses for "Water Lock", and it works on any device with a speaker.
Step-by-step
1 — Turn volume all the way up
Amplitude drives the water. Weak volume means weak vibration means water stays put. Remove your case if it partially covers the grille.
2 — Face the speaker down
Gravity helps. Hold the phone (or point the Bluetooth speaker) toward a soft towel or cloth so ejected droplets have somewhere to go.
3 — Press the button. Wait. Repeat.
One 30-second cycle is enough for most cases. For heavy exposure, run it twice with 10 seconds of rest between runs. Tap the phone gently against the towel between cycles.
The physics
A phone speaker is a small enclosure with a driver at one end. Like every enclosed space, it has a resonant frequency — the pitch at which the whole cavity vibrates most efficiently. On most smartphones, that lands somewhere between 140 and 220 Hz. When we play a swept tone centered at 165 Hz, the diaphragm oscillates strongly enough to displace the water droplets sitting on and inside the mesh.
Sweeping across a range instead of holding a single tone matters, because as water leaves the chamber the resonance shifts slightly. Sweeping keeps us on target the entire time.
Frequency modes
- Standard (165 Hz sweep) — the everyday default. Best for phone splashes and light exposure.
- Deep Clean (145 Hz sweep) — a lower, more aggressive tone for Bluetooth speakers, phones that were submerged, or stubborn residual moisture.
- Gentle (200 Hz sweep) — a higher, softer tone for earbuds, smartwatches, and micro-speakers where a big bass sweep would rattle the driver.
